Sadly, I was not in school on Friday to hand out the Headteacher Awards, as I was attending the Church School Headteacher Conference.
However, I did write all of the certificates on Thursday, so know that yet again the children who received Headteacher Awards had all worked really hard: writing independently, thinking of great story ideas, showing great courage and endurance at swimming, solving maths problems, learning letter sounds, counting carefully, writing imaginatively and with humour, understanding equivalent fractions, understanding improper fractions and mixed numbers, working co-operatively, building houses for pigs, following the 5Bs, and being the best they can!
Here they are:Well done to: Ethan, Lily, Leo, Sophie, Alfie, Lacey, Edward, Noa, Oliver, Sam, Darcey, Isabel, Sam, Harvey, Caleb, Darcey and Marissa!
Also, on Friday, we said thank you and goodbye to our fabulous Bath Spa Teachers, who have all successfully completed their first teaching placement. We hope to have some more Bath Spa Teachers in different class after half term.

All of the children seem to be enjoying our whole school topic, 'The Three Little Pigs'. I have seen some super story writing, where children have retold their own version of the story and there are lots of children building houses for little pigs out of all sorts of materials. I know Ms Bolton has something extra exciting planned for this week for all of the classes, which I'm sure your children will fill you in on when their class have experienced it!
Children are enjoying Buzz Time; it was lovely to see Ash Class off out for a ' Welly Walk' and Poplar Class playing parachute games during their Buzz Time on Friday. I think there are photographs of Poplar Class playing parachute games on the Year 1 Blog.
The children are also enjoying reading and writing the Blogs on this website. Please can you be aware that when you comment on any of the blogs that they are shared with the children. If you have something to say or ask, which is for the adults, please do use the Contact Us button on the Home Page of the website.
Here are the children who were presented with Headteacher Awards this week.
We heard all about their storytelling, writing, maths, attitudes to learning and being the best they can. Well done to: Mandy, Logan, Tia, Henry, Finley, Jesse, Oliver, Arthur, Sebastian, Alice, Harvey and Rudy.

We have had another full and busy week!
The children have been introduced to our new school rules 'The Five Bs', which are:
Be the best you can
Be kind and gentle
Along with our new rules we have replaced 'Golden Time' with 'Buzz Time', which I hope all of the children are enjoying! Do ask them about our rules and I am sure they will be keen to talk about Buzz Time!
I was delighted to present this week's Headteacher Awards on Friday and to hear about the children's fantastic achievements with their learning, and indeed with following our school rules. Well done to: Leo, Phoebe, Charley, Chase, Dora, Xavi, Sophie, Albie, Oliver and Thomas!

Welcome back to the new school term!
I hope you had a lovely, peaceful Christmas and best wishes for a very happy new year to you all!
We have had a busy first week back, starting with a great INSET Day for teachers on Tuesday. We spent the day discussing core values for our school and our behaviour policy, which will be called 'Relationships for Learning Policy'. This policy is based on the Frome Learning Partnership (FLP) policy with the same name, which is currently published in the Policy section of our website. When we have finished personalising the FLP policy to St John's, we will replace the FLP policy with our own. As part of this work, we have revised our school rules, which will be shared with children on Monday; do look out for exciting information linked to this next week!
On Wednesday, it was lovely to see the children all back fresh from their holiday, talking excitedly about what they had been up to. Everyone has settled back really well; already, everyone is working very hard!
Today, Janet Caudwell, from the church, led our collective worship about Christingle. The church are having their Christingle Service on Sunday at 9.30am to which you are all invited.
