Week Ending Friday 16th June

JunePosted by Claire Marsland Sat, June 17, 2017 22:37:20

It has been a very busy, but successful week!

All of our Year 1 children completed their statutory phonics check with their teachers, our new reception children joined us on Wednesday for their first 'Play to Learn' session, a group of children benefitted from a trip to Longleat, we competed at the local tennis tournament and came 1st, 2nd and 4th, and a group of Year 3 children performed at the Jackdaws 'Picnic and Perform' event.

I am delighted to also share with you that we have appointed Miss Larcombe to teach Ash class next year. She is known to many of the children already as she has been a regular supply teacher for us over the years.

Also, we celebrated the children's hard work and achievements this week. Well done to Jay, Thomas, Paul, Daisy, Hugo, George W, Gideon, Josie, Keiran and Lottie!

And here are our very successful tennis players:

Well done tennis teams, despite an extremely hot day and some tough competition (i spotted a county player at one point) you all used the skills learned at extra tennis pe lessons to great effect. A brilliant result!

Hi Claire
My name is Julia Skinner & I run 100 Word Challenge, a free online writing project. I also run 5 Sentence Challenge. Both link with blogging and provide an extended audience for writing. Check them out 100wc.net and https://fivesc.net.
The reason I'm writing is that I'm visiting Berkley First School at 4pm on 27th June to explain all about them & I was hoping some of your staff could come along.
Do get in touch @theheadsoffice or julia.skinner@theheadsoffice.co.uk
