This week, Toby came to school to teach some Netball skills. We started practicing the chest and bounce passes and worked in teams to help us do this. He shared the learning objective and encouraged us to write key words during the lesson. We had great fun and we could see the improvement with our passing and movement at the end. We can’t wait for next week.

This week we welcomed Bath Rugby Club to St John’s. They will be spending the next 5 weeks with us on Tuesday mornings leading us through their Tackling Numbers program. Both classes will receive an hour of training that involves learning how to play tag rugby, followed by an hour of maths using rugby as a focus.
This week we played a lot of tag which involved lots of movement, runnning and dodging plus how to hold and throw a ball. We were taught a saying to help us remember, grip, hip, chicken wing, throw!
In our maths lesson, we looked at difference between numbers, points for a win and whether teams would receive a bonus try or losing bonus . We then added them up.
We are already looking forward to next week.

On Friday, during our assembly, Isobelle played the Last Post to help us remember all those who have fought in wars. She did an excellent job and we were really proud of her.
Well done Isobelle.

This week we have been learning how to make a simple electrical circuit to make either a light bulb, a buzzer or a motor work. Once we achieved that, we added a switch into the circuit so we could turn it on or off. We also learnt that electricity flows and that if we didn’t have a complete circuit it wouldn’t work.

On Wednesday, 8 children from Year 3 & 4 went to Selwood to take part in a gifted and talented sports festival. They took part in a number of activities which included, balancing, throwing and catching and concentration. They also had to work as part of a team with other children from different schools. More photos can be found on the Year 3 blog.
